The Jacksonville Jaguars made five roster moves in advance of the league’s 53-man active roster reduction deadline (Saturday, Aug. 31 at 4 p.m. ET), releasing DL Datone Jones, RB Thomas Rawls, OL Josh Wells and LB Ramik Wilson, and releasing LB Davis Tull via injury settlement.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed seventh-year veteran DE Datone Jones, the club announced today. To make room on the roster, the Jaguars waived rookie DL Shane Bowman.
Jones, 6-4, 285, has played in 67 career games during stints with Green Bay, Minnesota, Detroit, San Francisco and Dallas. He was originally drafted in the first round (26th overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft by the Packers, where he spent four seasons and competed in at least 13 games in each year. He tallied a career-high in tackles (27) during his second season in Green Bay in 2014, while combining for 9.0 sacks during his four-year stint with the team.
The Compton, Calif. native played in three games with the 49ers and four games with Dallas during the 2017 season, totaling 15 total tackles, before playing in one contest for the Cowboys in 2018.
Jones competed collegiately at UCLA, where he completed his career with 51 games played and 148 tackles (90 solo), 36.5 tackles for loss and 12.5 sacks.
Jones attended Compton (Calif.) High School, where he also competed in basketball and track and field. Through his travel leagues, he played against NBA players such as Russell Westbrook, Klay Thompson and James Harden, while playing with DeMar DeRozan at Compton.
