‘You like that?’ Cousins tagged again

The Redskins will slap the franchise tag on Kirk Cousins again! This time it is an exclusive tag, which means that Cousins can’t negotiate with anybody else.  The Redskins have until July 15 to make a deal with Cousins. Redskins will pay Cousins $23.94 million under the tag.

Kirk Cousins is good, but you can find better. I would not give him a long term deal if I am the Redskins. He is in between a game changer and a game manager. Good enough to take you to the playoffs, but not good enough to win a title.  No matter what happens Cousins has 23.94 million reasons to be happy!

Russell-Escandon Featherweight Title Match Postponed

LAS VEGAS (February 28, 2017) – The featherweight championship match between Gary Russell Jr. and Oscar Escandon, scheduled forSaturday, March 11 at the MGM National Harbor in Maryland, has been postponed after Escandon was injured in training, according to Escandon’s promoter Sampson Lewkowicz.

“Oscar suffered an injury to his back in training and he’ll be ready to go in April,” Lewkowicz said. “He’s very sorry for the delay in the fight, but these things happen in boxing. He’s really looking forward to facing Gary Russell, Jr., but he wants to be completely healthy when they do meet.”

Escandon, a 32-year-old Colombian with a record of 25-2 with 17 KOs, is the mandatory challenger for Russell’s featherweight championship. Jermell Charlo defending his 154-pound title against Charles Hatley will be the co-feature on the rescheduled card.

“It’s definitely irritating,” Russell said. “But injuries happen especially when you have somebody pushing their body to the limit for a fight that is potentially life changing. It’s disappointing. It might not work out for him because I have a little more time to get ready.”

“We’re working with the venue and the network to find the earliest date that we an reschedule the show,” said Tom Brown of TGB Promotions. “I feel terrible for the fighters who have been training so hard and now have to wait. Gary is really disappointed, but he understands that injuries are all a part of the sport. But Gary will be ready to go on the rescheduled date.”

A new date for the fight will be announced shortly.

Embiid out indefinitely

“Trust the Process!” It is getting harder for 76ers fans to keep the faith. First, Ben Simmons was ruled out for the year because his foot is not fully healed.(more on him in a moment) Now, Joel Embiid is out indefinitely with swelling and soreness in the knee. He is scheduled for a MRI. The 76ers should not rush him back. Actually, they should even think about just shutting him down for the year.   Also, Ben Simmons had a procedure on his foot to help with healing.

“The Quad” Kevin Savage: “I auditioned for three different roles, and actually did not get any of the three roles”

There has been a lot of buzz about BET’s hit show “The Quad.” It is a show about football, HBCU college life, and so much more! Actor Kevin Savage joined Go4it’s Paul Gant to discuss the show. Savage tells a story about how he auditioned three times for other roles on the show before he landed the role of Terrance.

“When I auditioned for “The Quad,” I auditioned for three different roles and actually did not get any of the three roles I auditioned for,” said Savage. “They called and said hey you’re booked, but you booked the quarterback role. I said okay, cool, let’s do it! Who does not want to play a quarterback on a TV show.”

Along the way, Savage had to work hard to play a quarterback on TV successfully. “When I got out there and threw the ball they were like, okay, he is clearly not a quarterback. Embarrassing! It was humbling at the same time, but I got the chance to work on it in between the pilot and when we actually started shooting the series. So, when I came back, man, my arm was a lot better, and we got it in.”

Make sure you check Kevin and the rest of the cast of “The Quad” on BET!

Pelicans 0-3 since Cousins’ trade

Pelicans are now 0-3 since trading for DeMarcus Cousins. Concern? It has only been three games, and it will take time for everybody to get comfortable. End of the day, many were quick to crown the Pelicans as the number eight seed in the Western Conference. I was hoping the Pels would get the eighth seed, so they we could see how their size would matchup against the Warriors. At this point, the Pelicans are 3.5 behind the eighth seeded Nuggets with 22 games to play. Good news is they have three games left against the Nuggets; bad news is they have to jump four teams.

Pick it up Pelicans! Pick it up!

LaMelo and LiAngelo Ball miss 33 threes in one game!

We been hearing a lot about the Ball brothers( LiAngelo and LaMelo) and most of it has been good. What happened Friday was a different story. LaMelo Ball missed not 1, not 2, but 20 three-point attempts, and his brother LiAngelo was not much better missing 13 three-point attempts. That is a combined 33 misses from downtown!

These misses led to their high school team Chino Hill being ousted by Mater Dei in the California Interscholastic Federation Southern Section playoffs.

Good news is brother Lonzo Ball is still doing big things at UCLA, and could be the number one pick in the 2017 NBA Draft.

Pacquiao-Khan is on!
