Former NBA player Sebastian Telfair arrested in Brooklyn

-Sebastian Telfair, who played 10 seasons in the NBA, was arrested Sunday in Brooklyn, NY, and charged with criminal possession of a weapon, unlawful possession of a ballistic vest, criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of ammunition.

According to PIX 11,  Telfair was allegedly illegally parked in a pickup truck with another man, 18-year-old Jami Thomas, when police spotted them, NYPD sources said. Police stopped them after Telfair started driving without turning the car’s headlights on.

Officers found three loaded firearms, one semi-automatic rifle, a bulletproof vest, a large quantity of ammunition and two bags of marijuana inside the car, according to PIX 11.

Telfair last played in the NBA in 2014 for the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Cavs’ Richard Jefferson: ‘The pressure is all on them(Warriors)’

The Cavaliers were down 3-1 in the 2016 NBA Finals, and they won it in seven. Currently, Cleveland is down 3-1 in the 2017 NBA Finals. Can they do it again? While the Cavs are the defending champions, Richard Jefferson believes the pressure is all on the Warriors:

“It’s not on us. Where’s the pressure on us? They had a 73-win team and they added a former MVP (Durant). We added Kyle Korver and Deron Williams. They added an MVP to a 73-win team after being up 3-1 and then KD was up 3-1. The pressure is all on them. We’re the defending champs. We believe that we have enough here to win a championship. We haven’t played great thus far, but there’s no pressure on us. There never has. There’s never been that. It’s been about them proving that last year was a fluke, KD validating the move here, which it’s been validated, but, no. We feel very comfortable.”

I actually believe the pressure is on the Warriors. In the NBA, the best team usually wins. Barring a miracle, the best team will win this series. Unfortunately, for Cleveland, the best team in the NBA is the Golden State Warriors.

UCLA broadcaster and former NBA player Tracy Murray on Lonzo Ball: ‘He’s like Magic Johnson’

Earlier this week, Lonzo Ball worked out with the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers hold the second pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. Many have compared Ball to Lakers great Magic Johnson.  Did Magic Johnson see himself during Ball’s workout with the team? According to former NBA star, and current color commentator for the radio broadcast of UCLA basketball Tracy Murray, maybe Magic did see a little of himself during that workout.

“If you guys are expecting him to go get 25, 30 points a game that’s not going to happen. He may get it every now and then, but he’s the type of guy, he’s like a Magic Johnson, man,” Murray told Paul Gant.

“He’s going to make everybody else on his team better. He rather win the game, than to be the guy that goes out and gets 30 a game and lose. He’s a total team guy first, and I think that’s valuable. Especially in this day and age to value the team first, put them first in a “me society” where everybody is trying to get paid. He’s going to get his money because he’s going to win championships because he’s making everybody else better,” Murray said.

Murray expects Lonzo Ball to impact the game in many different ways on the next level:

“I expect big things, and people are going to look at it like, ‘man, he’s only averaging like 15 points a game, what’s the big deal?’ That’s not the big deal. It’s 15, 10 or 11 assists, seven, eight rebound, couple steals, and you win. That’s the big deal.”

When asked if teams should worry about Lonzo Ball’s father LaVar, Murray had this to say:

“No, because he didn’t get in the way of what UCLA was doing, so expect him not to get in the way of whatever a NBA team is doing,” Murray said.

Murray does have one concern when it comes to LaVar Ball:

“The only thing you have to worry about with LaVar Ball is going on these shows and talking. That’s what you’re going to see out of him. If there’s a question that’s going to be asked of him, and maybe things are not going as well as it should. He’s going to point it out. He’s not going to sugarcoat it,” Murray said. “Now, that’s the only thing you gotta to worry about with LaVar Ball, but you’re not going to have to worry about him coming in the office and say, ‘look you need to this with my son, we going to do this, we going to do that.’ Yes, he talks that on-air, but he’s never interfered with UCLA basketball in that manner, and I don’t think he’ll do it on the NBA level.”

Based on what Murray is saying, Lonzo Ball is a franchise caliber player. Should be interesting to see if Magic Johnson believes Lonzo Ball is Magic Johnson come draft day!

Draymond Green’s mom: ‘These officials have been officially paid’

Draymond Green’s mom Mary Babers-Green took to Twitter to give her thoughts on game 4. She believes that the referees were paid off.  Mama Green probably needs to stop tweeting.

By the way, Cleveland made 24 threes in game 4. No one can control that! Also, the Warriors shot more free throws than Cleveland in game 4. (36 to 31) I’m not saying the referees were good tonight, but I don’t believe they were paid off.

Cleveland Browns waive player hours before he was to throw out first pitch for Indians

Talk about savage! A few hours before he was set to throw out the first pitch for the Cleveland Indians, the Cleveland Browns waived S Tyvis Powell. Powell, who played at Ohio State and played for the Seahawks last season, was signed by the Browns after he was waived by Seattle in February.

According to ESPN, Powell is still expected to throw out the first pitch tonight at Progressive Field. According to Cleveland.com, the Browns were unaware that Powell was throwing out the first pitch for the Indians. The Indians start a three-game set against the White Sox tonight.

Wow! This is just awful!!

LeBron’s family did not want him to return to Cleveland

Last year, LeBron James fulfilled his promise to Cleveland and won a championship. However, if it were up to the family of “King James,” LeBron still might be in Miami. In an episode of Uninterrupted’s The Shop, James talked about his mom and his wife’s initial reaction when LeBron talked to them about possibly returning to Cleveland in 2014.

“My mama and my wife was like, ‘fu__ that. I ain’t with that.’ My mom was definitely like, ‘fu– that. We ain’t going back,’ explained James.

LeBron’s family did not want him to return to Cleveland because of the nasty letter written by Cavs owner Dan Gilbert when LeBron left Cleveland to go to Miami in 2010. James talked about what he had to do to convince his family why a return to Cleveland was a good thing:

“I had to finally be just like, ‘you know what mom it ain’t even really about that.’ Me going back is more of a bigger picture, and it’s more of all these kids, all these people that need inspiration, and need a way to get out, and I believe I’m that way out. And so, I had to be like as much as like my mom mean everything to me, and my wife mean everything, my kids, my mama she was so like ‘if you go back, I ain’t going back with you.’ she was like, ‘I’m staying in Miami or I’m going somewhere else, send me somewhere else.’ I had to be like, let’s not worry about the small sh–, and let’s worry about us trying to build something bigger than our name.”

Based off what happened last year, LeBron made the right move!

Derek Fisher wrecks car registered to Matt Barnes

There is no love lost between Matt Barnes and Derek Fisher. The former teammates have been at odds ever since Fisher started dating Barnes’ ex-wife Gloria Govan.  Now, Barnes probably hates Fisher even more. According to TMZ Sports, the 2015 Cadillac Escalade that Derek Fisher crashed last Sunday morning in Los Angeles is registered to Matt Barnes. Fisher was charged with DUI. Fortunately, for Fisher and his passenger Govan, they were not injured.

The car involved in the crash, according to TMZ Sports, was for Barnes and Govan’s two children.
