Darelle Revis to be released

The New York Jets have announced that they will be releasing CB Darelle Revis. He was scheduled to make 13 million in 2017.  Not a good few weeks for Revis. First, the arrest and four felony charges, and now this. He may not be the shut down corner that he once was, but he does not stink either. A guy with his skill set and ability will find a job.

Hall of Famer Larry Brown talks Phil Jackson and triangle offense

Hall of Fame coach Larry Brown believes that Phil Jackson should coach the Knicks if he wants them to run the triangle offense.  Brown had this to say to Sirius XM NBA Radio:

“I can’t figure out how you can hire a coach and tell him how you want him to play. I can’t figure out how you can draft players for a coach that you know coaches a certain a style, and was successful doing that style, and get him to play a style that you feel comfortable with. Then you coach. You’re talking about one of the greatest coaches in the history of our sport. Let him coach. If he wants to do the triangle, put it in and let him coach it, and then teach everybody around and get the players who are comfortable playing it.”

Larry Brown might be right here. If Phil Jackson believes the triangle offense is the best way to go, then he should either find a head coach who runs the offense, or just do it himself!

‘You like that?’ Cousins tagged again

The Redskins will slap the franchise tag on Kirk Cousins again! This time it is an exclusive tag, which means that Cousins can’t negotiate with anybody else.  The Redskins have until July 15 to make a deal with Cousins. Redskins will pay Cousins $23.94 million under the tag.

Kirk Cousins is good, but you can find better. I would not give him a long term deal if I am the Redskins. He is in between a game changer and a game manager. Good enough to take you to the playoffs, but not good enough to win a title.  No matter what happens Cousins has 23.94 million reasons to be happy!

Russell-Escandon Featherweight Title Match Postponed

LAS VEGAS (February 28, 2017) – The featherweight championship match between Gary Russell Jr. and Oscar Escandon, scheduled forSaturday, March 11 at the MGM National Harbor in Maryland, has been postponed after Escandon was injured in training, according to Escandon’s promoter Sampson Lewkowicz.

“Oscar suffered an injury to his back in training and he’ll be ready to go in April,” Lewkowicz said. “He’s very sorry for the delay in the fight, but these things happen in boxing. He’s really looking forward to facing Gary Russell, Jr., but he wants to be completely healthy when they do meet.”

Escandon, a 32-year-old Colombian with a record of 25-2 with 17 KOs, is the mandatory challenger for Russell’s featherweight championship. Jermell Charlo defending his 154-pound title against Charles Hatley will be the co-feature on the rescheduled card.

“It’s definitely irritating,” Russell said. “But injuries happen especially when you have somebody pushing their body to the limit for a fight that is potentially life changing. It’s disappointing. It might not work out for him because I have a little more time to get ready.”

“We’re working with the venue and the network to find the earliest date that we an reschedule the show,” said Tom Brown of TGB Promotions. “I feel terrible for the fighters who have been training so hard and now have to wait. Gary is really disappointed, but he understands that injuries are all a part of the sport. But Gary will be ready to go on the rescheduled date.”

A new date for the fight will be announced shortly.

First, Ben Simmons was ruled out for the year because his foot is not fully healed.(more on him in a moment) Now, Joel Embiid is out indefinitely with swelling and soreness in the knee. He is scheduled for a MRI. The 76ers should not rush him back. Actually, they should even think about just shutting him down for the year.   Also, Ben Simmons had a procedure on his foot to help with healing.

“The Quad” Kevin Savage: “I auditioned for three different roles, and actually did not get any of the three roles”

There has been a lot of buzz about BET’s hit show “The Quad.” It is a show about football, HBCU college life and so much more! Actor Kevin Savage joined Go4it’s Paul Gant to discuss the show. Savage tells a story about how he auditioned three times for other roles on the show before he landed the role of Terrance. “When I auditioned for “The Quad” I auditioned for three different roles and actually did not get any of the three roles I auditioned for,” said Savage.  “They called and said hey you’re booked, but you booked the quarterback role. I said okay cool lets do it! Who does not want to play a quarterback on a TV show.”

Along the way, Savage had to work hard in order to successfully play a quarterback on TV. “When I got out there and threw the ball they were like, okay he is clearly not a quarterback. Embarrassing! It was humbling at the same time, but I got the chance to work on it in between the pilot and when we actually started shooting the series. So when I came back man my arm was a lot better and we got it in.”
