Conor McGregor getting ready for Mayweather?

Conor McGregor really has no shot to beat Floyd Mayweather in a boxing match.  This video of McGregor doing boxing drills does not change my mind!

Take a look:

Floyd Mayweather angry with cheerleading judges

The last time we saw Floyd Mayweather complain about judging was when his fighter Badou Jack fought to a controversial draw against James DeGale. Now, Mayweather is unhappy with a different group of judges. TMZ Sports obtained a video of an angry Mayweather confronting judges, after his daughter and her team took second place in a cheerleading competition this past weekend. The event took place in Irvine, CA

According to TMZ Sports, Mayweather and the group that ran the event are on good terms.

Here is the video of the incident, and a “blow by blow” of what happened from the announcer at the event Jeff Krapf.

Like father, like son; Hasim Rahman Jr. makes pro debut in Maryland

Oxon Hill, Md. (March 27, 2017) – When promoter Greg Cohen announced he had finalized arrangements for his next event, the decision to delay his promising heavyweight hopeful, Hasim Rahman Jr.’s, professional boxing debut two more weeks became an easy one.

Originally scheduled to turn professional on March 23, Baltimore native Rahman will now have his first four-round fight in front of a huge contingent of hometown family and friends on Friday, April 14, at MGM National Harbor in Oxon Hill, Md.Rahman will face Kansas City’s Brian Imes (1-4, 1 KO) on the non-televised undercard portion of an event that features the live telecast of undefeated Dmitry Bivol defending his interim WBA Light Heavyweight title against Samuel Clarkson in the 12-round main event of a ShoBox: The New Generation tripleheader (10 p.m. ET/PT).  In the co-feature, unbeaten welterweight prospects Juan Ruiz and Malik Hawkins will square off in an eight-round bout, and Baltimore’s undefeated featherweight Glenn Dezurn will open the telecast.

Tickets for the event, which is co-promoted by Greg Cohen Promotions and Banner Promotions in association with World of Boxing and Uprising Promotions, are priced at $103, $73 and $48 and can be purchased at

“You only get one pro debut, so when Greg announced this show, he and I thought it would be a great idea for me to turn pro on this show instead, in front of my hometown friends and family,” explained Rahman.

The 25-year-old, son of Hasim “The Rock” Rahman, who famously knocked out Lennox Lewis in April 2001 to win the WBC and IBF Heavyweight Championships, says to being at home is a very important part of his mission.

“I’m doing this for my family and my friends and my city, so I think I should start right in front of them,” Rahman continued. “And someday I’ll bring them back the heavyweight championship. I can’t wait to fight on the same show as my brother with all my loved ones watching. It’s going to be a very big night.”

“We didn’t get the final word we were doing the Maryland show until a few days ago,” said Greg Cohen. “But once we knew it was happening, we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to let Hasim Jr. turn pro at home. It just worked out perfectly.”

Barry Tompkins will call the ShoBox action from ringside with Steve Farhood and fomer world champion Raul Marquez serving as expert analysts. The executive producer is Gordon Hall with Rich Gaughan producing and Rick Phillips directing.

GGG wins again!

New York– Gennady Golovkin finally fought a full 12 rounds! GGG was put to the test by Danny Jacobs, but prevailed by unanimous decision at a jam-packed Madison Square Garden. The scores were 115-112, 115-112, 114-113 all for the winner GGG. Golovkin was able to drop Jacobs in the fourth round, but Jacobs was able to survive that knockdown.  Jacobs used movement and his jab to make a very competitive fight. “I thought I won the fight by at least two rounds, but this is boxing. Obviously, he’s a bigger draw than me,” Jacobs(32-2, 29 KOs) said after the fight.

For GGG, going 12 rounds was something he felt was good for him. “I needed this. This was my first test over 12 rounds. I need quality fights!” Golovkin(37-0, 33KOs) keeps the WBA, WBC and IBF belts.(IBF belt not on the line because Jacobs missed Saturday morning weigh-in)

The next quality fight for GGG should be Canelo, but it might be WBO middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders. If Canelo gets by Julio Chavez Jr. in May, I would like to see him fight GGG next.

This is boxing, so we shall see!

Dana White on Mayweather-McGregor: ‘I do think it will happen’

UFC president Dana White believes the Floyd Mayweather-Conor McGregor fight will happen. On Wednesday, White went on the talk show “Conan” with Conan O’Brien to talk about it:

“I think it’s going to be a tough deal, because obviously a lot of egos involved in this deal and a lot of people, so that always makes it tougher. On the flip side, there’s so much money involved. I just don’t see how it doesn’t happen,” White told O’Brien.

White said the fight would be a boxing match.

There is too much money to be made for this fight not to happen. Dana White, Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor all want to get paid. Will it be competitive? Probably not, but it most definitely will sell!

Thurman-Garcia a ratings smash!

The highly anticipated Keith Thurman-Danny Garcia fight was a ratings success. The fight averaged 3.74 million viewers, and ballooned to as high as 5.1 million viewers. The fight aired on CBS.

And Boxing is dead? If you put good fights on free TV, people will watch. Point blank! Period!

Hopefully we will see more great boxing on free TV

Malignaggi calls it quits

Paulie Malignaggi is one of those guys who did a lot with a little. He maximized his talents and it took him very far. He won 36 times, but only had seven KOs. He won titles at the lightweight and welterweight divisions.  On Saturday, it all ended for Malignaggi, as he was stopped in the eighth round by Sam Eggington.

Today, he decided to call it quits. He went to social media to make the announcement.

Malignaggi has a great future as an analyst for Showtime Boxing. He is one of the better boxing analysts in the game.

Mayweather car burned in UK

Somebody does not like Floyd Mayweather. Last week his house was burglarized while he was celebrating his 4oth birthday in Los Angeles. On Sunday, Mayweather’s van was set on fire in the UK. Fortunately, no one was hurt. According to reports, the windows of the van were smashed, and the vehicle was ultimately set on fire.  Mayweather is currently on his UK tour.

Mayweather has a lot of security.  Maybe it is time to increase it!

Thurman decisions Garcia to unify

Keith Thurman started fast and coasted to a split decision victory(116-112, 115-113 ,113-115) over Danny Garcia at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY. The fight started fast and furious with Thurman getting the better of Garcia.  As the fight progressed, Garcia became the aggressor as Thurman started to retreat. Goforitgantsports scored the fight 114-114.

Now Thurman has the WBA and WBC belts. Should be interesting to see what is next for Thurman. Maybe the winner of Spence-Brook? Possibly the winner of Porter-Berto?

We shall see!

Porter-Berto announced

A fight that had been talked about for awhile now has become official. Shawn Porter and Andre Berto will fight on April 22 at the Barclays Center. The welterweight clash will air on Showtime.

Both Berto and Porter make exciting fights. I believe Porter’s size and strength might be too much for Berto, but time will be the judge of that.

I know for sure the fans will go home happy!
