Hurts rescues Eagles with late touchdown drive against Titans

The Philadelphia Eagles (2-0) defeated the Tennessee Titans (0-2) 24-20 at Nissan Stadium on Sunday.

The victory marked Philadelphia’s first win in Tennessee in franchise history.

Let’s take a moment to appreciate Philly’s ‘Big 3’ and their outstanding performances on Sunday:

-DeVonta Smith had 10 catches for 117 yards and a touchdown. On the game-winning drive, he had three catches for 32 yards, including a 19-yard reception to set up the final touchdown.

-Jalen Hurts was uneven for portions of the game, but he delivered when the Eagles needed him most.  He completed 26-of-37 passes for 264 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. One was a costly red-zone interception. The other came while he was being hit.

However, on the game-winning drive, Hurts went 6-for-8 for 61 yards.

With the win, per Elias Sports, Hurts and Roger Staubach are the only NFL quarterbacks to start their careers with six consecutive road-opening wins.

-Darius Cooper had only two catches for 26 yards, but he caught the game-winning three-yard touchdown with nine seconds left. This was Cooper’s first NFL touchdown reception.

Honorable Mention: 

-Jake Elliott gave the Eagles a 17-10 lead in the third quarter with a 58-yard field goal, the fourth-longest of his career.

-Dontayvion Wicks had another strong game for the Eagles. He finished with five catches for 74 yards.

Hurts and the Eagles avoided what would have been a very bad loss to the Titans.

Yes, Hurts and the offense had inconsistent moments in this game.

However, at the end of the day, Hurts ultimately delivered, and the Eagles escaped with the win.
