The Cleveland Cavaliers announced on Wednesday that the team will hold training camp at The Embassy in Andalusia, Spain.
The six-day training camp will run from Sept. 30 through Oct. 5.
Located in Fuengirola, Málaga, on Spain’s Costa del Sol, The Embassy was designed by former Spanish national team players and world champions Berni Rodríguez and José Calderón.
“Training camp is where the foundation for a season is built, and The Embassy provides our players, coaches and staff with an exceptional environment to begin that work,” said Koby Altman, Cavaliers President of Basketball Operations, in a statement. “The facility has established itself as a destination for elite basketball talent and performance, and having José Calderón, who has been instrumental in its development, as part of our organization makes this an especially unique opportunity for our team. Combined with the resources and expertise surrounding Cleveland Clinic’s growing presence in athlete performance and innovation, we’re excited to bring our group together in a setting designed to help us prepare, connect, and build the habits and chemistry that will carry us into the season ahead. It’s also an exciting opportunity to experience the culture and passion for basketball in Spain.”
Over the past two years, the Cavs held their training camp at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.
Cleveland’s three-game preseason schedule will tip off with a home game against Boston at Rocket Arena on Oct. 8, followed by a home contest against Orlando on Oct. 11. The Cavaliers will conclude the preseason on the road against Orlando on Oct. 13.
