The Los Angeles Lakers have signed forward Ziaire Williams, the team announced on Sunday.
According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, it’s a one-year, $3 million deal for Williams.
Williams, 24, appeared in 56 games for the Brooklyn Nets during the 2025-26 season, averaging career highs of 10.2 points and 1.4 steals, to go along with 2.4 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 22.9 minutes while shooting 42.5 percent from the field, 34.3 percent from 3-point range and 85.0 percent from the free-throw line.
The 6-9 forward scored in double figures 31 times and ranked second among Nets reserves in scoring. He tallied at least one steal in a career-long 16-straight games from Feb. 27 to April 3, the longest such streak by a Net in seven years.
Over the past four seasons, Williams has increased his points-per-game average each year. In 269 career regular-season games (108 starts) across five NBA seasons with Brooklyn (2024-26) and Memphis (2021-24), the 24-year-old has averaged 8.7 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 21.4 minutes. He has also appeared in 14 career playoff games (one start), helping the Grizzlies advance to the Western Conference Semifinals in 2022.
The Lancaster, CA native was selected with the 10th overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft by New Orleans before his draft rights were acquired by Memphis. Williams played one season at Stanford (2020-21), averaging 10.7 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 20 games (14 starts). He earned Pac-12 All-Freshman Team honorable mention honors.
A consensus five-star recruit in the 2020 class, he earned McDonald’s All-America honors after starring at Sierra Canyon School, where he was teammates with current Laker Bronny James Jr.
With the addition of Williams, the Lakers add another piece off their bench.
