Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James has been named NBA Western Conference Player of the Week for games played Monday, April 6, through Sunday, April 12, the team announced Monday.
The honor marks the league-record 70th weekly award of his career and his ninth since joining the Lakers.
In three victories over Golden State, Phoenix, and Utah, the 41-year-old averaged 24.0 points on 56.3% shooting from the field and 50.0% from 3-point range, to go with 6.0 rebounds, 9.7 assists, and 3.0 steals in 27.0 minutes.
James opened the week with 26 points (11-17 FG, 3-5 3FG), eight rebounds, 11 assists, two steals, and one block in a 119-103 road victory at Golden State on April 9. The following evening, he recorded 28 points (10-16 FG, 2-2 3FG, 6-9 FT), six rebounds, 12 assists, and four steals at home versus Phoenix. Against the Suns, James became just the fourth player in NBA history to reach 12,000 career regular-season assists. He closed the week with 14 points (6-15 FG, 6-7 FT), four rebounds, six assists, and three steals in a 131-107 home victory over Utah April 12.
In his 23rd season, James averaged 20.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 7.2 assists in 60 games this season.
The (4) Lakers will battle the (5) Houston Rockets in the first round of the NBA playoffs, starting on Saturday night in Los Angeles.
