Los Angeles Lakers guard Luka Doncic has been named NBA Western Conference Player of the Week for games played Monday, March 9, through Sunday, March 15, the NBA announced Monday.
In a perfect 3-0 week with victories over Minnesota, Chicago, and Denver, Doncic averaged 37.3 points on 46.9% shooting from the field, along with 10.7 rebounds, 11.0 assists, 2.0 steals, and 1.7 blocks in 38.3 minutes.
The 27-year-old recorded two triple-doubles and one double-double over the three-game stretch and produced his first 50-point performance as a member of the Lakers.
Doncic opened with a 31-point, 11-rebound, 11-assist triple-double in a win over the Timberwolves on March 10. The performance moved him past Kobe Bryant for the fifth-most 30-point triple-doubles in team history. Two nights later, Doncic posted a Lakers career-high 51 points with nine 3-pointers, along with 10 rebounds and nine assists versus Chicago. He became just the 10th player in franchise history to record a 50-point double-double.
Doncic closed the week with a 30-point, 11-rebound, 13-assist triple-double in an overtime victory over the Nuggets on March 14. He capped the night off with a game-winning jumper with 0.5 seconds remaining, his fifth career game-clinching field goal in the final five seconds of a regular-season game. The performance marked his eighth triple-double of the season and the 90th of his career.
