Giants’ Daboll: ‘We’re evaluating everything’

For the first time since 2020, the New York Giants have started the season 0-3 after losing to the Kansas City Chiefs 22-9 at MetLife Stadium on Sunday night.

After throwing for 450 yards and three touchdowns against the Cowboys last week, Giants QB Russell Wilson struggled against the Chiefs. He completed 18-of-32 passes for 160 yards and two interceptions.

During the game, fans were calling for rookie QB Jaxson Dart, and after what Giants coach Brian Daboll had to say when he addressed the media on Tuesday, change could be coming.

“Well, look, we’re going through the tape right now,” Daboll said. “We’re evaluating everything.”

According to reports, Dart will make the start when the Giants host the Los Angeles Chargers.

However, according to Daboll, the offensive struggles were not all Wilson’s fault.

“Like I said yesterday, in order to improve the passing game, and I’d say that was the number one thing we needed to improve from yesterday, as a collective, everybody’s got to be doing exactly the right stuff,” he said. “It’s not all on one guy. There are multiple reasons why certain plays didn’t come out the way we wanted them to come out, and we’ll continue to do that.”

Following the team’s loss to the Commanders in Week 1, Daboll did not commit to Wilson, but the next day, he announced that Wilson would be the starter against the Cowboys. However, this time around on Monday, Daboll is noncommittal, leaving the audience in suspense about potential changes.

At this point, the Giants are not a good football team, and inserting Dart doesn’t improve the situation. However, inserting Jameis Winston, a proven quarterback, could make a difference. Additionally, he would make things interesting and give the Giants a better chance to win.

But, at some point, which is now. Dart will get the opportunity to prove that he can be the guy for this franchise moving forward.
