The month of August has been very good for the Las Vegas Aces. They won 12 games, and because of Las Vegas’ success, their best player and coach received awards.

On Wednesday, the WNBA announced that reigning league MVP A’ja Wilson has been named Western Conference Player of the Month for August. It is her league-record 13th Player of the Month honor and first this season.

Adding to the Aces’ accolades, their head coach Becky Hammon was named Coach of the Month for August.

In August, the Aces tied a franchise record with a 12-game winning streak. Wilson averaged a league-high 25.5 points on 49.8% field goal shooting, second-best 11.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists, third-best 1.8 blocks, and 1.4 steals in 13 games.

Over the month, the team ranked in the top 5 in scoring (84.9 ppg), rebounds (34 rpg), blocks (4.9 bpg) and 3-point percentage (37.6%),  and also allowed the fewest points off turnovers (11.5) and blocks against (2.4 bpg), listed No. 2 in offensive efficiency (110.0) and No. 4 in assists to turnovers (1.73).

This is Hammon’s fourth Coach of the Month award after earning the honor in May 2022, June 2023, and September 2024. She is now tied with Sandy Brondello and Bill Laimbeer for the most monthly awards in league history since it was launched in 2017.

Hammon, Wilson, and the Aces return to action on Thursday night when they host the Minnesota Lynx.
