Temple University quarterback Evan Simon had the best game of his college career on Saturday in the team’s season-opener against Massachusetts.
Simon completed 19-of-25 passes for 248 yards and a career-high and Temple University record-tying six touchdowns as the Owls went on the road and dominated Massachusetts 42-10.
The six touchdowns were the most by any quarterback in NCAA FBS play thus far in Week 1.
The redshirt senior signal-caller’s performance was so impressive that he was named the American Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.
After Massachusetts took a 10-7 lead in the second quarter, Temple would score 35 straight points. In K.C. Keeler’s debut as Temple head coach, the Owls were special on offense as they had 467 total yards.
Simon was dominant, and so was the ground game. Temple rushed for 191 yards as redshirt senior running back Jay Ducker led Temple with 128 yards on 19 carries.
It was a great start for Keeler and the Owls, and they have a great chance of starting 2-0 when they host Howard University in Temple’s home opener next Saturday.
