After being traded to the Philadelphia 76ers from the Wizards before the trade deadline, guard Jared Butler has made quite an impression on his new team.
On Thursday, Philadelphia announced that they had signed Butler to a standard NBA contract.
According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, it’s a two-year deal.
Butler, 24, has appeared in three games for the 76ers (totaling 30 points and 14 assists) since being acquired by the team.
He’s scored in double figures in a career-best eight games so far this season, including a 15-point effort (6-10 FG) against Toronto on Feb. 11. Wednesday night in Brooklyn, Butler set a season-high with nine assists while starting his first game for the 76ers.
Butler has appeared in 35 NBA games this season, averaging a career-high 7.1 points on 47.5 percent shooting (34.0% 3FG).
In his fourth NBA season, Butler has averaged 5.7 points on 46.1 percent shooting (33.0% 3FG), 1.3 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 11.5 minutes in 123 career games with Utah, Oklahoma City, Washington, and Philadelphia.
In a related move, the 76ers released Chuma Okeke from his 10-day contract. The team signed Okeke to a 10-day contract on February 7.
