Giants get first win of season in Cleveland

The New York Giants (1-2) put in their best performance on Sunday, gaining their first win of the season after defeating the Browns(1-2) on the road 21-15.

After fumbling the opening kickoff, the Browns cashed on their first play from scrimmage when Deshaun Watson threw a 24-yard touchdown pass to Amari Cooper just 11 seconds into the game. At that point, you thought it was going to be another long day for the Giants.

From that point on, the Giants’ defense turned up the heat. They sacked Watson eight times and forced two turnovers, both of which were Watson’s fumbles.

Offensively, the Giants punted on their drive of the game, and after that, New York would score touchdowns on three of their next four possessions and led 21-7 at halftime.

However, they didn’t score in the second half, but again, New York’s defense did the job as they held the Browns to just one touchdown in the second half.

Daniel Jones had his best game of the season. He completed 24 of 34 passes for 236 yards and, for the second straight game, threw two touchdown passes without an interception, and he’s connecting with rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers.

After a big drop against the Commanders last week, the former LSU star redeemed himself and had another solid performance, with eight receptions for 78 yards and two touchdowns. Nabers is playing at a high level, which is not surprising to him.

“I had high expectations,” Nabers said, “I feel like having that dawg mentality that I got, it’s just showing every time I’m out there on the field, no matter what play it is.”

This is a good win for the Giants. They played like a desperate team, which is one reason they got the win. Now, they have to build on this win when they host the Cowboys on Thursday night.
