The Cleveland Cavaliers have signed center Jarrett Allen to a multi-year contract extension, the team officially announced on Thursday.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski, it’s a three-year, $91 million max extension.

There were reports that Cleveland was looking to make some changes in the offseason, but after extending Mitchell and Evan Mobley, for now, it appears they are going to go with their four core players of Mitchell, Darius Garland, Mobley, and Allen.

“We couldn’t be more excited that Jarrett Allen chose to extend in Cleveland for the prime of his career,” said Cavs president of basketball operation Koby Altman in a press release. “Jarrett’s growth as a player, at just 26 years old, was accelerated when he earned his first All-Star selection in 2022. He is the anchor of our core group of players, and his presence fits our vision for sustainable success. Jarrett also embodies the culture and values of our organization, and we look forward to achieving even greater things together.”

The 26-year-old, a 2022 NBA All-Star, appeared in 77 games (all starts) this past season, averaging career highs in points (16.5) and assists (2.7) while adding 10.5 rebounds (11th-best in NBA) and 1.05 blocks in 31.7 minutes per contest. He shot over .600 from the field for the fifth straight season and finished with the fourth-highest field goal percentage in the entire NBA (.634). Allen also registered a career-best 42 double-doubles, the most in a single season by any Cavalier since 2017-18 (LeBron James, 52), and included a franchise-record 16 consecutive double-doubles.

Allen, who was acquired from the Brooklyn Nets as part of a three-team trade on Jan. 14, 2021, has appeared in 252 games in three-plus seasons with the Cavaliers and has averaged 15.1 points, 10.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.23 blocks in 31.8 minutes. He owns the highest career field goal percentage in Cavaliers history (.642) and already ranks in the franchise’s Top 15 in blocks (12th, 311), total rebounds (13th, 2,585), offensive rebounds (13th, 814) and defensive rebounds (12th, 1,771).

Over his NBA career, he has played in 486 regular season games (421 starts) in seven seasons with Cleveland and Brooklyn with averages of 12.7 points on .630 shooting from the field, 9.1 rebounds, and 1.30 blocks in 28.2 minutes per game.
