The New York Giants added a prolific pass rusher to the team when they acquired DE/LB Brian Burns and a fifth-round pick(2024) from the Carolina Panthers in exchange for a second-rounder (2024), fifth-rounder (2024), and a 2025 fifth-rounder.

Also, the two-time Pro Bowler signed a five-year deal worth $150 million with $87.5 million guaranteed, according to Ian Rapoport.

Last season, Burns recorded 8.0 sacks, and in 2022, he had a career-high 12.5 sacks.

Burns met with the New York media on Wednesday, and the five-year veteran said he’s excited to be in New York City.

“Right now, the moment is still a little surreal,” Burns said. “It just got done not too long ago. I’ve got my family here. They’re extremely happy for me. I’m kind of overtaken with a lot of emotions, but once I’m done processing – I’m super excited to be here – but once I’m done processing, then everything will come back down, and I’ll really sit in fruition. Right now, I’m kind of all over the place; I’m just a little giddy.”

Clearly, Burns, who was given the non-exclusive tag by the Panthers, which allowed him to negotiate with other teams, brings a lot to the table, and he believes New York is getting a playmaker.

“They’re getting somebody that’s coming to work, always be professional, always be a pro, that’s number one,” he said. “Other than that, I’m coming to work; I’m relentless. They’re getting a playmaker. They’re just getting a guy that’s really going to enjoy the process, take it day by day. I really take a lot of pride in getting better. I feel like I can learn from a lot of cats, especially on this team. Other than that, I’m a team guy, always been a team guy. I’m a natural leader. I’m just ready to get to work and ready to get with these guys.”

The 25-year-old will join a defensive line with Pro Bowl DT Dexter Lawrence and LB Kayvon Thibodeaux, and “Spider-Man,” Burns’ nickname, is impressed by the talent on the Giants.

“New York has a ton of young pieces,” Burns said. “Looking down the line, I’ve got (defensive lineman) Dexter (Lawrence), I came out with Dexter. (Outside linebacker Kayvon) Thibodeaux, I know him. I actually took him on a recruit from Florida State. But they’ve got dogs on the inside; they’ve got a dog behind them in the linebacker corps. So, there’s a lot of talent on this team.”
