Lofton Jr. continues to dominate in Delaware

Philadelphia 76ers two-way player Kenneth Lofton Jr. continues to shine for the Delaware Blue Coats, the team’s G League affiliate.

Lofton had a game-high 26 points to go along with 11 rebounds, five assists, and three blocks as the Blue Coats defeated the Westchester Knicks 128-121 at Chase Fieldhouse on Friday night.

Delaware led most of the game and had their largest lead of 25 points in the third quarter, but the Knicks made it a game in the fourth, and they cut it to two with just under three minutes to go.

However, Ricky Council IV scored five of his 20 points, and Lofton Jr. put the game away with a layin with just over a minute to go.

The Blue Coats had five players in double-figures.

Delaware coach Mike Longabardi said Lofton Jr. wanted the ball down the stretch, and they fed the big man.

“These games are tough,” Longabardi said. “That team is scrappy. [Lofton Jr.] got us a basket when we needed it. He wanted the ball, so we just gave it right to him.”

The Knicks’ Dylan Windler led the way with 23 points and a single-game G League record of 33 rebounds.

Delaware and Westchester face off again Saturday night at Chase Fieldhouse.
